June 13, 2002

Richmond Va - Heale Manufacturing Co., Inc. was recently honored by the Defense Supply Center Richmond as one of the government's best suppliers at an Automated Best Value System award ceremony held during the center's annual business conference in June.

Elliott Erickson accepted the silver medal from the commander of the supply center, Air Force Brig. General James P. Totsch.

Heale supplies electric wire harnesses and cable assemblies to the Department of Defense and other government agencies.

"This recognition means that we have provided a product line the government and the 'war fighter on the front lines' can use with confidence around the world", said Elliott Erickson (President).

Firms that qualify as Automated Best Value System (ABVS) medallists have met stringent quality and delivery requirements established by the Defense Logistics Agency of DOD. The ABVS collects a vendorís yearly delivery and quality performance and translates it to a numeric store ranging from zero to a perfect 100.

To qualify for a gold medal, a supplier must have a perfect score of 100. A score of 99.0 through 99.9 earns a silver and 98.0 through 98.9 earns a bronze medal.

The Defense Supply Center, located in Richmond, VA purchases nearly 900,000 items ($2 billion per year) from over 10,000 suppliers. Only 200 suppliers qualified for an ABVS medal.

Heale has been honored 11 times since 1990.

Elliott Erickson, President stated "it takes a full year of attention to detail and commitment to quality and on time delivery to win this award. We are honored to be included with such a prestigious list of winners including Lockheed Martin, Northrup Gruman, Rayovac and others."
