Heale Manufacturing Wins DOD Quality Award

June 24, 2003

Heale Manufacturing Co., Inc. was recently honored by the Defense Supply Center Richmond (DSCR) as one of the government’s best suppliers.

Elliott Erickson, President of Heale, accepted the silver award from Air Force Brig. General James P. Totsch at the annual Automated Best Value Supplier (ABVS) award ceremony in Richmond VA.

Heale Manufacturing has been supplying electric wire harnesses and cable assemblies for military and commercial equipment for 50 years.

"This recognition means that we have provided a product line the government and our troops around the world can be confident is using," said Erickson.

Firms that qualify as ABVS award winners must meet stringent quality and delivery requirements established by the Defense Logistics Agency. The computerized evaluation system awards a gold medal for a perfect 12 month score of 100. A score of 99.0 to 99.9 earns a silver medal and 98.0 to 98.9 earns a bronze medal.

DSCR reviewed the performance of all of its 10,000+ suppliers with only 350 companies earning a medal this year.

"We are especially proud of the fact that we are one of only five companies who have won the award in at least 12 of 13 years it has been given. For our small company it really is quite an accomplishment!"
